Panama Canal

Panama Canal was officially opened by the passing of the ship, SS Ancon on August 15, 1914. At that time, no single effort in American history had cost such a price in dollars or in human life. The United States spent $352,000,000 from 1904
to 1914 on the canal, which was more than any amount spent up to that date on any other venture. The French and American cost totaled $639,000,000. It took 34 years from the initial effort. The Panama City Skyline in 1880 to actually open the Canal in 1914. Some New York Panama Canal Cruises80,000 persons took part in the construction and more than 30,000 lost their lives during this venture. The Panama Canal opens passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans. Lets go!!!
